Sit Down Comedy Club brings comedy to Ipswich in the monthly Stitch in the ‘swich series.

This month features an incredible lineup featuring Shad Wicka, Fred Lang, Emma Zammit and Chris Martin!

Shad Wicka

A rising comedic presence out of Queensland, Shad Wicka is becoming a regular face in comedy circles after departing Cairns and is now thriving in the Brisbane comedy scene. Since being kicked off commercial radio, Wicka has become a class storyteller with jokes to match. Shad brings a down-to-earth looseness to the stage that has made him one of the most in-demand hosts in Brisbane and beyond.

Fred Lang

After a 30+ year career in an industry not known for its longevity, this maestro of mirth and merriment has just about seen and done it all.  From topic-specific sportsman’s luncheons’ to comedy clubs; from the tasteful tone of black tie society to the rough and tumble of troops on active duty, Fred has spoken and the crowds have laughed.

Compliments and kudos have been many over his extensive career, here are some of his favourites:

That was thoroughly entertaining and very funny.” – Former Australian Prime Minister John Howard

Your performance was the perfect way to end the speeches of what has been a successful evening.” – Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd

I don’t care how many times I watched you I always end up laughing myself stupid!” – Dual rugby International Michael O’Conner

The highlight of this tour has been watching you weave a magic that lets those soldiers forget where they are. And you do it night after night.” – Rock Legend ‘Angry Anderson’ at the end of a tour of Iraq and Afghanistan for The Australian Defence Force (one of five such tours he has done).

Forged in the furnace of current affairs and sharpened nightly against the steel of public opinion, Fred’s irreverence is razor sharp.  Before your very eyes, Fred masterfully sews into the complacent and contented cloth of public life a thread of colour bright enough to light the way to the nearest psychiatric ward!” – Barrister and dear friend Robin Slade Jones when asked to describe after many viewing what he thought of Fred’s comedic bent.

Having led what he views an interesting life, Fred draws his material from those ‘every’ experiences, whether it’s his interest in immigration (both his parents escaped from Eastern Europe after WW1), or his belief that youth gets it way too easy nowadays.  (He has no children, automatically making him an authority!).

Fred’s comedy is, and always will be, pertinent, insightful, clever and funny.  Storyteller, Comedian, Raconteur or Master of Ceremonies, as a unique performer, Fred ensures an entertaining evening.

Emma Zammit

Emma Zammit began her standup comedy career in early 2008 after her sister decided it was time to move her one-liners out of the lounge room and enrolled her in a standup comedy writing course for the sake of family harmony.

After graduation, she was inspired to work the hard yards and tighten her comedy antics in Sydney and Perth, and she has never looked back.

Emma’s relaxed and relatable style has been a hit with audiences in comedy clubs and at corporate functions. Her musings on parenthood, people and everyday life make her a highly entertaining performer. Recently, she’s been the support act for Jimeoin at his Brisbane shows and has been featured on Channel 10’s Drunk History and Waltzing Jimeoin.

Chris Martin

Chris Martin is an accomplished stand-up comedian and improviser. At the age of 5, he told his family a joke and no one laughed*… well 30 years later he’s MUCH BETTER!

His ability to find himself in an awkward situation is second to none, and has been the basis of his side-splitting storytelling comedy since day one. He’s also quick with a joke and worldly observation.

Chris’ relaxed stage presence and on-point delivery has seen him perform in the best comedy clubs in Australia, all while supporting some of the biggest names in the industry including Damien Power, Luke Heggie and Sam Campbell.

His debut stand-up show Claw Machine (2018) explored all the important relationships from his life and was met with sell-out crowds and rave reviews.

No matter your mood, Chris’ comedy will always leave you smiling and wanting more.

Chris is also a co-founder and director of the Brisbane based and award-winning Big Fork Theatre.

Recently, Chris has been working on his passion project Stand Up VS Improviser, a comedy game show that brings together his two loves stand-up comedy and improv (it’s going to be HUGE!).
